Domain Forwarding

Domain forwarding allows you to direct your digital traffic to any website, IP address, or service you prefer. All forwarding operations can be managed easily through your Netkora customer panel.

What is Domain Forwarding?

Domain forwarding automatically redirects visitors from your domain name to another web address (URL) or IP address.
Example:
www.examplecompany.net → www.examplecompany.com

Types of Forwarding

1. URL Forwarding (Web Forwarding)

• When someone visits your domain, their browser is redirected to another URL you specify.
• 301 Redirect (Permanent): Informs search engines of a permanent redirect. Recommended for SEO.
• 302 Redirect (Temporary): Used for temporary redirections.

2. DNS Forwarding (A / CNAME Records)

• Allows you to technically point your domain to a specific IP address (server) or another domain name.
• A Record: Points your domain to an IP address.
• CNAME Record: Points your domain to another domain name (e.g. www → site.netkora.tr).

How to Set Up Forwarding?

For URL Forwarding:

1. Log in to your panel: netkora.tr/hesabim
2. Go to “My Domains” and select the relevant domain
3. Open the “Forwarding” or “Web Forwarding” tab
4. Enter the target URL and choose the forwarding type (301/302)
5. Click Save

For DNS Forwarding:

1. Go to the “DNS Management” section of your domain
2. Create a new A or CNAME record
3. Enter the target IP address or domain you wish to forward to
4. Save the records. DNS propagation usually takes 5 minutes to 2 hours.

Note: For DNS forwarding, your domain's DNS management must be on Netkora. If you use another provider for DNS, you should perform this operation there.

Common Uses for Forwarding

• Redirecting an old domain to a new one
• Pointing multiple extensions of the same brand to a single site
• Temporary redirects for campaigns or maintenance pages
• Subdomain forwarding (e.g. blog.example.com → blog.netkora.tr)

Important Notes

• Consider the SEO impact of URL forwarding (especially 301 vs. 302)
• DNS forwarding changes may take 5 minutes to 2 hours to propagate
• CNAME records can only be used for subdomains
• The IP address entered for A records must be correct and active
